How do you defeat burnout?

That is, when you've been going and going with work and just pressures of life and then BAM! You can't do it anymore. There's just no desire to do any of it. It is definitely not easy to get forward momentum going, so I'm curious to see what you do to help get things back on track. Rigmarole, ever heard of the word? I'm definitely feeling the effects of that lately.

Usually crash. Sometimes that's the only way to get that old reset button going.

True. I've done that before too just because there was no other way for me to do it.

I try to do things that stress me less and go back to my routine when I feel better.

I usually find that I adapt a new routine after that burnout. Sadly I don't always realize when I need to change things up until it's too late and I burnout.

@LadyDuck I tend to deny that I am getting towards that stage.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Sometimes I feel the burnout coming but there is nothing I can do to make changes quickly.

I would take a break, do something fun and think why I want to do it in the first place.

I guess creative people gets burnout quickly because most of the jobs have some sort of repetition in it. They need to retrain their brain a lot to fit into the task then. The training, I guess, varies a little from person to person because everyone's a bit different. My job demands taking great deal of cognitive loads sometimes, but it has some creative freedom as well.

I think you're right. Creatives have to keep their environment fresh because it's the engine that drives the creativity.

I like Kayla's response. Sometimes you have to crash and burn before resetting. Usually for me, I just check out for a while and do nothing be veg. Sometimes I will take a trip, as being out in nature always seems to do the trick for me. A nice weekend camping trip, or a good day at the beach helps me feel better. And if those aren't options, sometimes a good long run or a walk will help clear my mind and help me refocus.
