Would You Walk in the Marsh for a Photo Like This?

I wouldn’t, because I don’t like my shoes to get dirty, lol, but it didn’t stop my nature lover of a son! While I was taking awfully bad photos from our restaurant table of the marina and beyond, he spotted this Great Blue Heron and immediately left the table. He gets the credit for this photo. The rest of us watched the heron catch fish. Mother Nature at her best once again. And no, he kept his shoes spotless, too!

I wouldn't. My mom showed me a picture of a great blue heron at the creek in her backyard last week. Apparently my 5 year old nephew kept telling her to "look at the blue bird" and she thought it was just a blue jay or a blue bird. Nope!

Really nice shot. How did he keep his shoes spotless? Didn't he have to go into the marsh to get this shot?

He got some shots from a dock, but got closer by walking on try land. He’s too much of a clean freak to get his feet and shoes wet.

@DianneN I saw a short legged heron when I was in Galveston, Texas. It was a sub species of the Blue Heron. Gorgeous and fun to watch cause the bird was climbing up the side of a historic wooden sailing ship.

@sallypup I adore birds, but wish I recognized their names. My favorite is still Orville the osprey!

It really is a lovely photo! Did he take his shoes off before going in? I'd be afraid I'd scare the big fellow off with my splashing (and being too close).

This photo is simply stunning. This could really be sold for profit on foap or another site. That pelican is stunning in exotic forests

Thanks so much! A better camera than his iPhone would have been better pixel-wise. It’s not a pelican, but thanks.

@DianneN I would say he did not go in the water so they did not get wet. He must have gotten as close as he could to take the picture. It is a great picture.

His telephoto lenses were way back home in Connecticut. He actually took some photos from the dock and this one from walking on dry land
