When it Rains, it Pours...

I know a number of you have read my post about COVID and my grandson that has it living with us, but I didn't mention what started before that. I went to get new glasses and the place where I usually get them told me to see my eye doctor before getting anything. As it turned out, I ended up with two surgeries for cataracts. I was shocked as I never expected that. I knew I needed new glasses but was not prepared for an operation on my eyes, much less, two operations. Since I was a little girl, I was always afraid of going blind as a friend of my parents was blind and I saw him a lot. The second operation was a month after the first one. The operation was a piece of cake as I was asleep since I left the prep room and woke up when it was over. I didn't know what hit me. I had to be in the operating room by 6am and left there around noon. No pain or after effects. It was easier than I ever expected it to be. The worst thing about the whole experience was what came after. My husband had to put many drops in my eyes a few times a day for a few weeks. He is very organized and had charts all over the table keeping track of how many drops went in each eye a few times a day. One of the meds burned so bad but I got through it. Now, everyday, I am seeing things I thought were different colors than they really are. I am driving everyone crazy as I keep telling everyone what I am seeing and they just laugh at me. I never thought at 79 years old I would be so impressed with the NEW ME. My biggest highlight of the things I see clearly now is my Cockatiel. He is so beautiful and I am always playing with him and I am probably driving him crazy. Happy to say, the eye drops are done now so my husband got rid of all the charts on the dining room table.

Thank you. If anyone would have suggested it to me, I would have thought they were crazy, but when I found out for sure and had the first operation, I was so shocked. I am still finding things in my house that I thought was a different color. I wonder how many clothes I didn't match right.

I was shocked too regarding cataract surgery yet it was the easiest, fastest surgery I ever had---okay, maybe not scheduling the eye drops after but the positive effect was almost immediate--I always advise people go for it! Mmmmmm---maybe I should have stayed married just to have someone do the eye drops!!!

Ha, ha, ha. I don't think that would be a good reason to stay married....You would probably get better attention using the newspaper boy or super market associate.

@Courtlynn Thank you. I think I lost half a year this year being laid up and visiting many different doctors. I am glad it is almost all over.
