Roasting and grinding...

Good afternoon from this side of the planet. It's 2.20PM here and I am here to relax for a while.. Done with lunch and cleaning dishes and kitchen top after that. I had a 40 minutes break between my sessions and I itched to be here. But then I controlled myself and rather went to kitchen to roast and grind a few things. I have roasted all seeds.. pumpkin, chia, flaxseeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, cucumber seeds and melon seeds. Packed them in air tight containers and kept in fridge. They come handy for snacks, fortified smoothies, and making chutney( home made sauces). I roasted some lotus seeds( makhana in Hindi) and kept it in air tight container. It's one healthy snacks I enjoy without guilt of munching into something Also prepared my home made protein powder using all lentils and seeds. They come handy for a healthy drink. Now I have them prepared for more than a month. Guess, I utilised my break time well. I missed mylot but could get some good work done Now I will be here to spend some time. Fun target for the day... reading and responding to 40 posts and answering all notifications. Let's see how much I am able to do. Picture is of the lotus seeds that I roasted. They look like popcorn and are crunchy. Have a good time in your mylot corner

You get them easily online. Bigbasket or Amazon have them. I get the organic ones from 24 Mantra organic products. Being diabetic and vegetarian, I need them every day in my diet to meet up with my protein, calcium and other minerals requirements. I have 10 almonds,5 walnuts and 3 spoons of these seeds daily. Helps with my weight management. Also bone health and controlling sugar. Lotus seeds are packed with nutrition and good for bone and kidney health.

The roasted seeds are the best snacks to have. They are healthy. What about this lentil and seeds powder. Do you grind the lentils and seeds together?

Yes, they are nutritious. I roast them separately. I have a ratio thing given by my grandmother's recipe. Once roasted and cooled, I grind them and keep it as Protein Powder. It's healthier and safer than the ones that we get in stores

I need to put these efforts to manage my diabetes. Can not munch on anything and everything to shoot my sugars and get me into trouble. Also being a vegetarian, I need to get my protein calcium and Vitamin supplements from plants.

I was happy that I did it. Takes care of few things for a month. Lotus seeds/ foxnuts/ makhana is very common here. We have them as snacks and some yummy deserts are made out of them. It's nutritionally dense and is rich in protein. A power food for vegetarians and also good for diabetics and weight management. We keep postponing things due to our love and addiction for mylot. Glad that I finished it.
