Hello! I'm DE and you'll learn I'm sweet and innocent... Everyone will tell you that. The last time I used a pressure cooker was about 20 years ago. All I can remember about it is be careful opening it. If it hasn't released all the steam, it can explode when you open it. I hope you get it figured out. Beef stew sounds good.

Did you get a manual when you first bought the instant pot? Maybe you could follow the instructions. You could also try to learn how to use instant pot from Youtube. I have never used that before and can't help much. Anyway, do update us once you get your cooking done

I usually go to the instant pot website for ideas, you should try that site. There are a few members here who use an instant pot, @NJChicca excels at using hers and is a great go-to person I find as she is so helpful and knowledgeable on the pots.

Directly use it for any food that you wish to make it soften. Water will not a good test. if you worry to ruin your beef, then can use it for potato or carrot. If potatoes are over cooked, you can always make it into mashed potato

Oh I am so glad you finally get one of these.. Yes..I have one..I tried all different sizes but in the end, I kept the smallest one. It is only myself and grown son here so it is big enough. I make all kinds of stuff in it, from curry to spaghetti to rice to potato..anything at all! My favorite is easiest. I put browned ground beef, then spaghetti sauce, then add the spaghetti noodles and cook that all at once for around 15 minutes on the high pressure..yes you can add all together. And it is done in 15 minutes..so good.

@rakski I prefer the traditional way, I tried the pressure cooker a few times and the food simply did not taste as the food made slowly, taking the time needed to enhance the flavors and mix together.

@rakski i just cannot trust anybody with my fur babies. My bichon frises are very delicate and they need loving hands and not the hands of those who are just obligated to. I do get assistance when I’m bathing them. Their bath has to be prepares, their essentials, and everything. But nobody else touches them but me.
