Hooray for the VA! I think they came through to get me a swag bag for Coral, since she fell in love with the bag but balked at me sending her mine (and I sent her a sample photo to prove that I have a million of those things). I’ll pick it up after lunch then mail it to her. Meanwhile, we’re dealing with bridges, and here’s the next song on my list of favorites with “bridge” in the title. #9: Across the Bridge - Jim Reeves Well duh. Of course I’m going to throw my all-time favorite singer in the mix any time I can! This is from Reeves’ second gospel album, the last released in his lifetime (the third, My Cathredral, came out three years after his death). It’s not “preachy” gospel, but more “inspirational.” It’s one of those where you have to “bridge” the inferences. (See what I did there?) And, of course, it’s Jim Reeves. Across the Bridge Written by Walter Scott Recorded by Jim Reeves From We Thank Thee, 1962 There’s no more sorrow:

You going to have to teach me that one. I need to get on VA's good side they never give me good advice move along sir you not injured your mental healtth might be questionable but pretty stable compared to most people we see. I cannot even get a free goody bag. I had to shut song off as soon as played both Kai and Brooklyn started barking. Apparently they love the gospel. My brother and sister gonna make me pay for that one.

The swag bag is easy to get: identify as a woman. Seriously, it was women veterans open house day at the hospital. You know, that does bring to mind the fact that they don’t tend to EVER do anything for the male veterans. That’s a problem, because let’s face it: until the 1990s it was the guys who did all the fighting. I always appreciate a “thank you for your service,” but my enemies were junior officers who couldn’t fill a leave chit out correctly, and my biggest wounds were paper cuts. I know they have had a Vietnam Veteran day the past few years (now that we’re starting to lose those veterans at a faster clip), and I really hope they’ll acknowledge the “regular guys” who seem to get pushed to the background because they’re too busy acknowledging the women, the transgender, the gay, and the veterans “of color.”

@FourWalls Hey that might work. I am a women I tell you, mentally off give him a goody bag. Yeah and plus guys mental even before they go to war. I think society in general just makes them that way. I mean women definitely get short end of straw in mans world but a man has to be so manly and messes many up because always feel like they failing, why I never liked that man up term. Plus some women know how to push a mans button just right and I hate those women.

@crossbones27 — I hate ‘em, too. I don’t advocate violence, ever, on anyone male or female, period, but you can understand how some b*tches get slapped.

He had such a wonderful voice. One of my Dad's favorites. Glad that you were able to get another bag and sent the one to Coral
