For my brother’s birthday, he ordered this bilao birthday package for a sum of 3,000 pesos. Bilao (winnowing basket) food packages seem to be the trend here. I saw a bilao breakfast package, bilao rice cakes and other dessert package, bilao chicken wings package and a lot more. The picture above has 2 kg lechon belly (roasted pork belly), buffalo wings, kinilaw (Filipino Ceviche), chicken cordon bleu, and pancit canton (noodles) for long life. He also ordered two trays each of buttered chicken and lumpia shanghai (egg rolls) for the kids. I bought ice cream and my sister baked a beautiful flowerhorn theme birthday cake. It was only us, I mean family members, no friends included, because of Covid.
My mom kept on saying the food wouldn’t be enough for everyone. That she should have cooked instead of ordering. But she’s not that young anymore and cooking a lot of dishes can cause her stress so I think it’s good that she didn’t cook anything. As a backup plan, I planned to order pizza just in case.
What do you think happened afterwards? Did everyone get to eat? Was the bilao birthday package enough?

That looks like a lot of food, but I don't know how many people were eating from it. (It looks delicious!) At a guess, I'd say the food was enough because you didn't say you actually ordered any pizza. You just wrote you thought about ordering it, in case...

If there weren't many of you then I would think that was plenty. Of course, it depends on how hungry you all were. I know some people who could eat a whole buffet to themselves!

@sol_cee we often used to take my boys to all you can eat places if we went out. One reason was that it meant we knew there was something for everyone, but we did joke that we knew we'd get our money's worth with my oldest son as he at quite a lot and never seemed to be full!

For a sum of PhP 3 km that is good treat. Pancit canton alone is somewhere in the 600 mark. You still have delightful combo food like the cordon bleu.
Hmmm, I surmise the boodle bilao could have been ravished clean.

Cordon bleu has been a delectable dish ever since the SM opened that French Cuisine in Cubao back in '84, if I recall right. Forgot the name.
I believe French Baker carries the meal in its menu.
The name means 'of highest style of cooking.'

@eileenleyva I have some friends in the food package business and they said cordon bleu is a big hit because of the mad woman. Everyone wanted a taste of the infamous dish lolll

Cordon bleu became popular after the viral FB post of the woman from Cebu who ordered a food package but didn’t pay in full. Have you seen that video? She said ‘where’s the cordon blue?’ Hence, everyone got curious what cordon bleu is. Lolll

I think that bilao food package is good for 10 people... That would be so much for us here at home. We are only three... =) It looks so yummy... Hmmm I hope they also offer that here.. My parents' birthdays will be this coming month.

wow that's a complete food package, if I held a birthday party by agreeing that the food during the pandemic was like it would be more than enough.
especially if you don't invite big families, we only celebrate with the nuclear family.
but unfortunately, for me birthday parties we never celebrate again except when in kindergarten. now we think of birthdays as just a day like usual.
I hope we can have a birthday party again even though it's been a hiatus for the past few years, hopefully it will be a big birthday party
