You see, I’m a nice hillbilly. If I’m going to post country, I try to soften the blow. If you don’t like either song with “bridge” in the title…..well, all I can say is hold on, because you know what’s #1.
So for your honky tonk pleasure, here’s today’s bridge song.
#5: The Bridge Washed Out - Warner Mack
Warner Mack isn’t a name you know unless you were listening to country music in the 60s. He had a pretty good string of top 20 hits (fourteen, to be exact), including this song, his only #1 hit.
Then, as country changed to the “countrypolitan” sound, he faded.
He’s still alive, at 83, and released a new album last year. Don’t look for it to outsell Garth or whomever, but it’s good to see him still active.

This is awesome. I love having my hony-tonk pleasured.
It's a shame about Warner Mack being just another Fourteen Hit Wonder. But it's not over for him yet. If he starts applying himself, he still has time to make something of himself in the music business.
