Going through my artwork

I've been on a cleaning spree and today's project is all things art. Which has lead me to going through my old sketches. Through my own (bad) sketches, I found this broken angel that my daughter had made for me when I was thinking about getting an angel tattoo. There are times when I wish she would have gone into doing art professionally. She's a creative soul and has had offers for her artwork. When I asked her about it she just shrugged and said "Mom, I love art too much to make it my job. I don't want to answer to someone else about what I should be doing and besides if I get artist's block or I do not enjoy the subject asked for I'll be miserable." I didn't understand it when she first said it to me. But now, I think I understand. So for the parents on here, have you learned something from your child/children? And those without children, what is a lesson you'd like your parents to learn from you?

I learn a lot from my kids but mostly a different way to approach something. I don't have any examples.
