This is stupid

My ex asked me how work was going earlier and I told him that I hate teaching Forensics. Last week I taught about collecting evidence from a crime scene. I have a degree in BIOLOGY. I know NOTHING about how to properly collect evidence. I am not even remotely qualified to teach this stuff but the beauty of the system is that there aren't any qualifications required to teach it. I have now spent over an hour trying to learn about and find resources for hair analysis. I know nothing about it. I have no supplies for labs. I can't even find any good case study activities on it that I don't have to pay for. I don't need any more stress in my life these days and this stupid class is just providing more. Why would you take someone toward the end of their career and make them teach something they know nothing about, don't care about, and have no supplies for?

I would really be excited to teach forensics. I think it is super interesting. There have to be resources somewhere.

@NJChicaa Have you checked with Quantico the FBI or even asked your local police department where you could find resources? Also colleges teaching the subject matter might be good resources You would think your school would be able to help you out with this since they are requiring you to teach it Maybe your state's criminal investigative division would be good too.

I've spent hours upon hours Googling for free resources. There are very few.

I always thought that forensics required a degree if not other qualifications the more you learn! Can you ask them to provide the supplies and information needed to teach the class?

Because your school board has a sick sense of hummor and has decided, for whatever reason they want to add another science to study in high school?

As I've mentioned before, I am very interested in Forensics and would love to take your class! I'm sorry you haven't been able to find free supplies.
