@Marilynda1225 Usually they are gone by the end of September. But it depends on the weather. Also, it is rare to see three monarchs at any time of the year. For me anyway. Very special.

@CarolDM I used to have butterfly bushes in my yard. Those bushes would be full of butterflies. Now I live in an apartment.

It is a lovely photo. It has been a few years since I've seen a butterfly up close in person. I think the last time was at one of those hands-on butterfly exhibits.

They are such an iconic species - but did you know they are danger of becoming extinct? It's almost unthinkable that this species of butterfly, which could be found all over the place, has declined by 99% in 40 years!
