4 people were injured at a Texas high school this morning. 2 of them have gunshot wounds. It seems that it was caused by a fight between people but it isn't clear who. The article says it was between a student and "another person". The police have the 18 year old gunman in custody.
I am so sick of this. I mean at least it wasn't a planned mass shooting but enough is enough. What is an 18 year old doing with a gun in school? What is an 18 year old doing with a gun at all? Yeah yeah 2nd Amendment. Texas. I don't care.
My classroom has 2 doors. I check the back one every morning on my way in to make sure that it is locked. (sometimes it isn't) That way if we have a lockdown I only have to worry about locking the one door. When I use the bathroom I always bring my cell phone in case a lockdown is initiated while I am inside. These are things that I think every single day. I shouldn't have to imagine being locked in a bathroom for hours during an active shooting situation. That isn't normal or healthy.
I wonder how long it will be for the next school shooting to occur. Sadly it isn't a matter of "if" but of "when".
The suspect in a shooting at a Texas high school Wednesday is in custody, Arlington Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye said.

When some kids feel provoked or mistreated, they immediately turn to violence and seek revenge! Those stupid games they play on the Internet, that's where all this crap originates! And many movies they watch, violence is throughout every scene!

@kobesbuddy there are *some* limitations in *some* states but not nearly enough

@NJChicaa And a criminal mind will find a way, regardless.

@kobesbuddy The thing is most school shooters and others who have committed mass shootings haven't been "criminals". Many of them have had no criminal record whatsoever.

You give stupid people access to weapons, and this is what you get. I remember living in a state of bliss as a kid. You never think about things like this. I'd hate to be a student or teacher in this day in age.

Four teens were recently arrested not too far from where I live for plotting a school attack on the 25th anniversary of the Columbine massacre. I so thankful they were caught before they did anything! They were really planning ahead of time. The one girl's mother told police her daughter was "obsessed with Columbine".
Authorities say four teenagers have been charged with a plot to attack a Pennsylvania high school in 2024 on the 25th anniversary of the massacre at Colorado’s Columbine High School

Dang white supremacists. They're everywhere. We had an active shooter training (online) when I started teaching at Guitar Center. I never did have one at the College or in any of the preschools where I've worked. I admit that I read about these things, shake my head, but don't really consider the possibility that I could be involved.
