I am not a dog person but, again, I love all animals. I've had some dear ones in my day. They are great animals and I enjoy watching the Dog Show every Thanksgiving. I look forward to it every year. Do you watch it? In my reading today I found some interesting facts about the dog and am here to share again:
There are 400 officially recognized dog breeds which are divided into 7 categories: Terrier, toy, working, herding, hound, non-sporting and sporting.
The Basenji breed has a uniquely shaped larynx and so it can't really bark. The sound it makes is more like a yodel. Can you believe that? I am not real familiar with this breed and could not find a picture of it to share.
Similar to human fingerprints dogs have an individualized and unique nose print.
The greyhound is the fastest dog in the world. They can run 45 mph. The second-fasted is the Saluki and they can run up to 43mph.
The longest dog in the world was Aicama Zorba of La-Susa, from London. A Mastiff that measured 8 feet. He also held the record of the heaviest dog with a weight of 345 pounds.

One of my best dogs was a Basenji Red Heeler mix. Susie was the best of the best. After I had my horse crash and had to learn to walk again, Susie stayed right with me, letting me lean on her if I needed to. Yes she made odd noises at times. (My current Blue Heeler, Rufus, also makes odd fake yawn noises, too so don't know.)

@celticeagle Huskies also do not usually bark, they tend to howl, they also don't shed all year round.
