Now my hot water tank is leaking!

I don't know if it's connected to the problem I had with my overflow tank in the attic but now water has come through my living room ceiling (slight) which is underneath the airing cupboard that houses the hot water tank. The strange thing is I have put something under the tank to catch any drops but it doesn't appear to be leaking any further. This morning I have called a plumber out as the airing cupboard is in my bedroom and I can detect a slight smell. I don't want to be poisoned. Time to tidy my airing cupboard I think!

I am glad you could immediately notice the problem. They fix one problem and they create a new one, this happens all the time.

@LadyDuck I have an awful feeling I might need a new tank.

@LadyDuck I'll see what they say. Maybe it's repairable.

It's good that your house didn't get flood by the water. So is it fix by now?

Your luck sounds like mine. It has been one thing after another here. I can't deal with much more of this.

@sprite1950 I am hoping nothing else will go wrong for awhile, but most of the stuff in this house has the potential for something to go wrong with it, as very few things are new, and as well know...usually Murphy's Law is in effect (if something can go wrong it will) Also, the car is another matter..if the house is OK, that is presenting a problem... Ho, Hum.

It does seem to all come at once. If the superstition is right it comes in threes so as my heating has now packed up I hope that's the end of it!

@snowy22315 You're right but I sold my car recently because I hardly ever drove it so that's something I don't have to worry about any more. My house is quite old too so there's plenty to go wrong.

Leakage problem is often complicated. It leaks at one place but you see the leak at a totally different place. Hope you will sort the problem

@allknowing I'm okay as I have an electric shower which runs separately from the central heating. The only gas I have is the gas central heating. I'm using little halogen heaters to keep warm.

I hope everything is okay and you've just got a little mildew from the drip pan.

@DaddyEvil Oh I put a towel under! I've had a plumber round. My friend Pete went into the attic to sort out a leak up there. Somehow two pipes got disconnected and water ran into my airing cupboard and through the living room ceiling. It's fixed now .. but now my heating has gone wrong

@sprite1950 I don't know. You said you put something under it to catch any drops... That's normally referred to as a "drip pan".

Luckily my granddaughter was sitting in the living room when the water started coming through so I was able to catch it early. Not too much ceiling damage but I will repair it once the plumber has been and fixed the leak.
