It was reported that the great Saint, Pedro Amothka, could read minds, hearts, souls, and consciences, of other people. He only did this when it was requested of him to do so, though, to try to aid someone to find their realer truer self within themselves. When he spoke to their soul, and passed this speaking onto the person, it jelled with them, and they felt the truth of what he was saying. Soon as he did this once though, he would never do it again for that particular person; once connected, always connected, he would say, and so he would expect them to be able to do this now for themselves, and to talk to their own higher self, soul, heart, and conscience too. The idea was to bring about in the person a greater appreciation of themselves as souls, and their connection to God too. A person once asked him why they had to suffer from this disconnection in the first place though. The Saint answered her, like this: "What has suffering got to do with love?" "That is the real question that you are asking me here." "To sacrifice all for love involves suffering because others do not suffer such a degree of love easily, and will cause you angst, and try to stop you from fully loving, but love just the same, though your heart, and soul, and mind, might suffer, but your heavenly father only knows that you are still loving, through such suffering, and angst too." "Nobody else might know you are loving underneath the suffering, but God always does know." I made up the story, so it's fiction. But, l was reading about the life of some Saints, who were said to be able to do this.

I think we all try to read other people's minds to understand them better. Words bandied about may not ring true as to their real intentions. Again it is our attitude to life in general that matters - some enjoy the challenges while for a few everything is a chore/suffering. With love as the driving force all become just part of life, to feel the blessing showered.

I have been involved in various religious teachings where they do try to read someone else's mind. I never sat well in those religions, as to me it is invading someone's personal space, especially if it is their inner space, like that. If I can't understand someone's meaning from their words, I never try to ascertain it from their body language; instead, I simply ask them to clarify what they said for me. Words speak louder than any secondary stuff to me, and the rest is not part of my soup, but their soup, so I usually leave it alone for them to drink for themselves. I wrote this article after reading this article on the net, which was interesting, but still not a gift that I would like to have. I would not like to be able to invade another's inner thoughts, and conscience like that.

@Shiva49 I think that when we are very close to someone, our minds jell in unison, and at times we think as one, and so we think on the same thing, or we think the same thought, at the same time. It feels like we have just read their mind, but I feel that it is usually more a coming together of thought in a similar way, than the actually reading of their mind. Just the same though, our minds operate on certain wavelengths, and give out signals, or energy waves, that probably can be felt, and heard, and interpreted by aware individuals too. Our mind is a mechanism, so that can be connected to by others too, at times, I guess. Our soul, though, is at another level again. I do not think that many, if any, could read our soul makeup, or connect to our soul records, as we are the only one with the key in us to be able to do that, I think.

@innertalks I recall once I went in search of an old friend. I went to his place and a sort vagabond told me my friend had moved out and returned only rarely. I made polite inquiries about my friend but could sense he was able to read my mind by going to the nub of my thinking and mind rather than answering only to my inquiries. I have known a few beating about the bush and then I could sense what they are after! Then again the one I had worked for and I could read each other's minds and moods saving time and energy! Then the charlatans claiming to read our minds and trying to corner us. Of course, some saints could impart their knowledge with just a look and a glance that could be piercing.

the ability to see what people are thinking, just based on their expression and manner is a great skill. in my world we call that reading the room.

I have heard that a great speaker, can read the mood of a room, as he enters it, and so direct his speech towards the overall mood of the listeners. This supposed skill of these saints purportedly went deeper than this, though. They could know the exact sins that someone had committed, by reading their consciences, and hearts, where any sin stains show up there, apparently. "Through Jesus, I see and hear all. I see your soul just as you see yourself in a mirror." The Saint, Padre Pio, said this of himself. He had what some call: "the gift of knowing hearts and scrutinizing consciences." Being able to see into people's hearts is not the same as reading minds, or having keen intuition, or simply reading their body language. ...it's claimed.

@innertalks there is a difference though that most forget to mention. A great speaker or a great leader. It is critical that we remember leaders can walk into any room, and walk out to cheers. Great speakers cannot always leave the room to cheers.

@innertalks a stand up comic really wouldn't be a leader. a great speaker yes, but not a leader. leaders have to make hard decisions about things comics would avoid.
