Eggs in a Basket Dinner

Breakfast is always enjoyed any time of the day in my world. Today on the menu was called eggs in a basket. Some call this a Popeye sandwich. And probably other names as well. Another easy peasy meal I grew up eating. And still enjoy it today. All you need is bread, butter and eggs. Make a round hole in the center of the bread. I use a small glass. Add an egg in the center. Fry it all in one pan. I add salt and pepper and mix it all together after it is fried.

I always refer to it as toad in the hole. Although, it should be noted that there is also a British dish by the same name that is along the same lines but includes sausages.

I tried making it once but wasn't impressed. I like an easy over egg on toast, though. Go figure.

Sounds good. I had to have french toast because From the carton, I dropped 2 eggs as I was moving things around in my fridge. So before eggs dripped, I gathered it and broke them open in my container.

I like that combination of bread and eggs also. My favorite way to have eggs for supper is soft boiled and then toast cut into strips that I dip into the egg in the cup.

Oh yeah. When hubby was young, he was told that egg and bread combo was supposedly the easiest way to fry an egg. I forget what we call it. I just rip a hunk of bread out of the middle and start frying.
