Sounds like anomali to celebrating death, but we did that. We do it at 3rd, 7th, and the biggest celebration will be held at 9th day. Men from the neighborhood will came to our house and praying together, and we serve them with a food. Here the picture of us preparing the food. We preparing the rice, tofu and egg braised in coconut milk, vegetables mixed with seasoned grated coconut, and crackers. Sorry for the picture's low quality, it's kinda dark here:')

I am ignorant about this so pardon my question: When you celebrate are you celebrating her life and what she accomplished?

Yes, but more like honoring life. The funny thing is that we do it for the living one, so that they can remember they can die anytime so they will live their life calmly.

I'm sorry to hear that. Are you celebrating in memory of her and her life? Where is this tradition celebrated? There's nothing wrong with doing things to honor and show love and respect for your deceased relatives.

More like 'honoring her life'. This is from Lombok island, Indonesia. I can't say only Indonesia, this country is preety big and there's a lot of tribes with different cultures.
