I Need Ideas

I am a person that hates to get rid of things and at this point in my life I have lots of pictures I have taken through the years. I hate the thought of throwing them out but have no idea what to do with them other than that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I know there is someone out here that might have an answer. Thanks in advance.

I wish I had an idea for you. I am in the same boat. Some of my photos make me want to go back to my other house but I know its not like that now. I am slowly packing to move and wow I am addicted to taking photos. Good luck!

For a while now I have taken photos of the photos (!) I don't have the heart to actually throw away the hard copies, though.

Little did I know when I was younger taking all these pictures that I would have this problem. I find more pictures everyday when I start cleaning. My kids don't want them and with all the pictures that I have now online, I really don't need them.

If they are something you'd like to keep but don't need physical pictures anymore, scan them into a folder on your laptop and then transfer the folder into a zip drive (thumb drive, storage device). You can make copies of the folder and give a storage device to each of your kids, then throw the physical photos away. No clutter, no mess. If you ever do want a physical photo you can easily plug the zip drive into a printer and print out a new one.

You suggested what I was going to say, but in a more technical fashion, lol!

I scanned all our photos, should I decide to throw (or better burn in the fireplace) all the old photos I still have them saved on a hard disk.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a whole storage crate in my closet that is full of pictures (some still in frames). Slowly but surely I'm taking them out of the frames and putting all those frames in a box for donation. The pictures are going into a box and then I'll go through them. I like the idea of scanning them and having them on a thumb drive but I'm still attached to my physical pictures. Hopefully someone here will have good solution and I can piggyback on their idea

@ramapo17 what a priceless photo you have. I wish I had photos as old as that. I only have a few from when I was a child. I'm still on the fence about actual physical photos as opposed to those that have been downloaded.

I have pictures of my mom holding me on the way home from my birth. I am now 79 and the pictures still look good.

I think I just might keep the best ones after giving some out to people in them.
