I'm sure you've heard of the "Build Back Better"-Act---a couple bills the legislators are debating that would spend billions of dollars on 'things society needs to get built back better.' https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/oct/18/what-is-build-back-better-crash-course I haven't reviewed the bill's basics (as you can at the link), but the gist of it is this: 'the government' will pay for all the services in the bill (childcare, education, paid leave, etc.) And I think; 'Democracy' means "rule by the people"; the "Build Back Better"-act sounds like 'powerless subjects relying upon the charity of the administrators' Why don't the legislators just eliminate- (or heavily reduce)-our income-taxes, and trust us to spend the spare money to provide the services for OURSELVES? I think it's because they don't believe in Democracy. They think the human-animal is too greedy, self-centered & lazy to spend money on anything better than junk-food and sin.

The government will finally tax billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, etc. who currently pay NO tax.

Why doesn't the government tax them first, and THEN think about what to do with all the money?

I think it's an excuse to raise taxes when we need cuts. How do we know where our tax dollars will really go?
