All dressed up for the Melbourne Cup

Today was Melbourne Cup Day in Australia. They call it ‘the race that stops a nation’. It isn’t a public holiday but most activity will come to a standstill while the race is on. It is to Australia what the Kentucky Derby is to the USA and the Epsom Derby or Grand National is to the UK.
Our village had a Melbourne Cup luncheon which Vince attended. I didn’t go as I’m fighting off a cold at the moment.
Vince wore a bowtie (of a sort) and a hat in honour of the occasion. I had intended to wear the little golden creation that I was given for our golden wedding anniversary but it wasn’t to be.
Vince was asked to take his camera and he took a lot of photos which the villagers will be pleased to see. I took this one of him before he left. He was given a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine for his trouble. Guess who has claimed the chocolates?

@DaddyEvil We sell our horse ones but not these. We also give away quite a lot of horse photos too for promotion or whatever.

Melbourne Cup? Is it for Rugby or Soccer (commonly called as Football) ?

Oh I thought that was the big yacht race they had there. Vince looks dapper! Good for you, for claiming the chocolates...I would have too.

Well, isn't the rule that the wife claims the chocolates? My husband knows that I can be possessive of chocolates. Of course, in my defense, he will decimate cookies and other sweet treats without a thought toward me. So, I think it only fair that I claim all chocolates under the "girl" rule.
