Too Soon For Christmas Stuff

Last week when I was watching t.v. I noticed the commercials were mainly about Christmas. It wasn't even Halloween yet. Now after Halloween I feel like I'm bombarded by Christmas movies, commercials and shows.
They start so early with all this Christmas stuff that by the time it get's here I'm completely Christmassed out. Growing up in the 70's and 80's they didn't start with any Christmas stuff until Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving and we couldn't wait to get a tree and decorate the house and bake cookies. Ya know all the fun stuff.
Now because they start promoting it so early I don't think it's really any fun anymore.
Does anyone else notice what I do? Does anyone feel the same about starting so early kinda takes the fun out of it?

@WomanWarrior1969 Same as you, they start so early that by the time it's Christmas I have enough and I only want to see this finish.

Now because it's 2 months away the decoration and music like you said ruins the atmosphere. By the time Christmas comes it's like I don't like decorating the house and tree or make cookies and stuff because I just want it to be over with cuz it just feels like another day

Would you believe that Christmas in my country begins in September. We call the 'BER' months the Christmas season.
Of course am not the one who condones this and my friends dismiss my protestations by calling me 'killjoy.'
But true, my people has the last quarter of the year buying gifts and decorating ang planning for Christmas parties. Includes the yearly 'Kris Kringle', an activity in which someone is secret Santa to another all the long duration of the season.
For me, Christmas begins Christmas Eve and ends New Year's Day.
But I have my wreaths with lights hanged on the porch already. To warm the hearts of passers-by.

That's nice but I think I'll wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate

@WomanWarrior1969 That is actually the correct time to put up lights and decorations. Thanksgiving coincides with the Feast of Christ the King, the last day of the liturgical year. The following day begins Advent. And so we wait pensively for the Birth of the Messiah.
I find Advent a very solemn season. A time for introspection and renewing the meaning of living with faith and hope for the coming of our Savior.

@eileenleyva I agree with you and Jim. Nobody stops to think about the true meaning of the birth of Christ, as well as the hope, joy and faith anymore

I start singing carols in the shower in December. Everything else is absurd.

Well Christmas is never fun here anymore, but I do watch some movies earlier to have some nice memories of days gone by when holidays were special.
Since I do not really do Thanksgiving anymore because there is no family left, I skip it and go straight to Christmas

I still watch some classic Christmas shows which bring back good memories but then I get homesick because my family is in Wisconsin and my boyfriend lost his mom and dad. Sometimes we get together with friends but it's not the same.
