So, in the "healthy" aisle at the DG..they had these snacks. I thought they said Bama puffs. I assumed they were made in Alabama but no they came from Israel. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I didn't think DG imported much other than junk from China. Live and learn.

I think you have to really like peanut butter which I do. They are kind of dry though.

Most of the avocados here come from Mexico. Although other regions of the ctountry get them from other places.

@LadyDuck We don't get anything from that part of the world that I know of..but maybe like Africa black soap or Fair Trade Coffee. Certain hand crafted items

@snowy22315 Israel is a lot closer to us, some come from Kenya, but they are not very good.

I'm surprised that Osem, which is the company behind these snacks, is now in Dollar General. Although, they are a major manufacturer.

Me too..How could it be cheaper to import these from Israel instead of just going with a local provider? Snack foods are pretty cheap after all.

@wilsongoddard It doesn't seem like they are going to make a buck paying to have it shipped so far.

@snowy22315 Much of what is in American supermarkets is far from being local. My only surprise about Osem being in DG is just that I didn't realize that they'd branched out into that direction. My experience of the company is through mid-range supermarket chains and a few specialty local stores.

@Sojourn No, actually they only cost 1.00. Maybe I will pick them up some other time. They are pretty good.

@snowy22315 It must have been much costlier than the usual so they can recover the shipping charges.

It seems like from Alabama would be alot cheaper for them to buy and ship.

@snowy22315 The current people in charge prefer other countries.

They are OK. Even though they only cost a buck..the bag really only has two servings in it, so kind of on the expensive side. I might get them once in a while though.

I love peanut butter anything. These snacks aren't great, but they are tasty. I guess they have more protein than your typical junk food.

That is weird finding out they came from Israel. I never check to see where something comes from.
Those peanut butter puffs do look interesting.

I used to eat Bamba here in Israel and it is a good snack but gave it up along with other things a long time ago. That is interesting that you have it there. Is there a picture of the package because it bought it or just to show us the picture in the store? Do you get anything else from Israel?
