I enjoy finding obscure, unusual facts online. Sometimes they might be strange, sometimes informative, sometimes relatable, funny or just odd. I'll let you decide what category these facts I found are to you.
Many people enjoy eating fish as it is healthy in protein and other minerals. And we want the appearance of our food to look as good as it tastes. So why does my salmon appear so odd looking?
UNUSUAL LOOKING SALMON FILLET
Have you ever noticed this nasty looking white stuff that appears on cooked salmon? I often cut that gooey looking part of the salmon off rather than eating it. What is it anyway?
Well, it seems it is perfectly harmless. As the fish cooks it thickens forming the white stuff on the skin which is actually protein that we see . It's called ALBUMIN. So, although gross looking it's fine to eat, however I'll stick with cutting it off.
If your eating salmon what do you do with the white stuff? Eat the additional protein or like me scrape it off the skin?
SALMON TIPS: A WAY TO MAKE SALMON WITHOUT THE WHITE STUFF
Follow this advice when preparing salmon for a more appealing look...
-Cook the fish slowly and be careful not to overcook it. The salmon flesh should separate easily into layers with gentle pressure from a fork.
-If oven roasting cook to a medium doneness of 125F.
-Don't forget your meat thermometer to check the temperature.
There you go, a perfectly cooked salmon meal.
Hope you enjoyed these interesting facts.
Do you eat salmon? If not, any tips on how you prepare your favorite fish?

I love salmon and so far haven't seen any white stuff ..... well, mostly I eat smoked salmon but even when I cook fresh salmon I haven't seen any white stuff.
Did you know that the healthiest part of a salmon is that layer of fat between the scaly skin and it's flesh?

Health experts claim salmon is one of the healthiest fish to eat. Great source of protein
The Omega-3 in the fish contributes to heart health, as they reduce artery inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, and maintain blood pressure levels. So eat away!
Glad you enjoyed the post!

@dgobucks226 I will follow this top. Usually when we cook salmon, we also bake potatoes. This combo seems to be perfect for us.

Yes, I scape it off. I never knew it was part of the protein in the fish. Pan searing tip: If you don't already
make sure to start skin side down before flipping to add some brownness if needed.
Thanks for your response!

I’m allergic to fish, so I’ll just read about people eating salmon instead of eating it myself.

I am so picky with salmon.
If it is not cooked to perfection, it does not taste good to me.

Do you pan cook your salmon? Or oven bake? When pan searing the article recommends to start skin side down before flipping to add some brownness if needed.

I love salmon. I eat it. I never thought about it. Now, I know it's more protein we all need.

I'm not a big fish eater; and I definitely don't care for salmon.
