Tonight for dinner; I opened up a can of tamale. I am not going to buy any more tamales that come in a can. For some reason; the tamales does not taste the same as they did a few years ago. I wonder if my taste for them changed over the years. It seems to me that the tamales are getting more dry over the years.

No it is probably not as good quality like many things these days..but it could be you have gone off them for a while.

@Scrapper88 They never used to be like that. I remember them well and liked them.

@RebeccasFarm I remember how they use to be. Since they are getting pretty dry now; I am going to stop eating them for a while.

If the tamales are made from scratch; they are pretty good. The tamales that came out of a can are not so good.

I know those bear no resemblance to fresh tamales, @Scrapper88
but I remember what a comfort food they were when we were kids! I haven't eaten anything like that in 20 years or more, as homemade tamales are cheap and plentiful in my neighborhood, but if your canned ones are dry just heat them up in a bowl of tomato soup!

I am going to try heating the tamales up in tomato soup and try it out that way.

I have never had tamales in a can as far as I know. I think I have tasted them though.

I think that either our taste buds change as we get older or the tamales tastes are changing due to the chemicals in the air.

Canned ones don't sound good to me. It could be the preparation is different and that's why they weren't as good.
