A Cat Tale

Recently there was a post on a Facebook page for our little community.
A woman from Iowa was posting about a kitty. Her son was driving from Iowa to the most southern part of Oklahoma, with a cat. He was taking it to his sister.
He pulled over to let her stretch her legs, etc. She got loose from her collar and leash and ran away. He could not stay very long to search for her. The Iowa woman was just asking that if someone found her that the finder would love the kitty and take care of her.
With some details, the community began to look for Midnight. Softy that I am, I offered, should someone find her, to take her as far as Oklahoma City if the daughter would meet us to get the cat.
Midnight was found today. The young lady that found her could not keep her, but posted.
Bob and I just picked Midnight up. She is settling in to her temporary accommodations and we are going to Oklahoma on Saturday, for a day trip.
Hopefully this is indeed the right black cat.
Here is the Facebook post:Please help:
My son was driving from Iowa to Oklahoma, transporting a cat from my place, to his sister in Oklahoma. He stopped in Florence to let her stretch and possibly relieve herself, but she slipped her leash/harness, and ran off. He looked and looked for her, but couldn't find her anywhere. Since he had a schedule to keep, he reluctantly had to leave without her.
She's all black, about 2 yrs old and spayed. Her name is Midnight and she's very friendly, but probably scared and skittish now.
If anyone sees her, please take her in and give her a loving home. We're just sick about losing her, but this is really the only thing we can do. Please help. Thanks. Below is a picture of her being silly.
This is definitely a sweet kitty.

The original poster said based on a picture the finder posted that it was the same. One of the things I took a second look at is her pitch black nose.Same as the picture. She is a very loving kitty and was comfortable in the car for the few blocks we traveled this evening. She has made herself at home in my office.

It is in a familiar direction and I know how people can worry about their pets. I like to think that giving out goodness will help me experience goodness.

It sounds like the cat has had a bit of an adventure. She's probably quite relieved to be back inside and not out fending for herself.

She is a very loving cat who seems exceptionally calm. Iowa owner said she used to go out for a day or two at a time and always come back. That would not happen here. Right now she has no desire to go out.

@wilsongoddard We had a little bit of a cold snap. Her hair is short, so I imagine being outside for two or three days made an impact.

@GardenGerty She may have been cured of her desire for the outside after her adventure. Who knows what she encountered during her time out there.

No, not chipped. By her behavior we knew she was not a stray, though. She very much wanted to be "at home" somewhere.

@GardenGerty There are some cats and dogs that get lost every year in those same circumstances. Most of the time they can go back home thanks to the Internet.

@RubyHawk The daughter could not tell me for sure as she had only seen pictures, too. So, we will never know 100% but I feel certain she was the right kitty.

We will stop and visit my brother and sister in law. Maybe stay the night. We have not seen him since long before he had hip replacement. Good excuse to get me going.

I do not need another kitty but I would not mind having one just like her. She would make a good pet for a senior citizen, too. I am glad to be taking her to family, though.

I am pretty certain we do. Her face is the same, and the way she acts.
