Right to the eye

Nighttime and kitty crazies go paw-in-paw. Our boy was all hyped up to play, play, play earlier, and he demanded that I join him. So, I did, but he quickly grew tired of how I wanted to play. So, I "pounced" on him. Did you know that the proper response to a human playfully grabbing a kitty is for the cat to take a wild swing, knock her glasses off, and claw her eyelid? No? Neither did I. He's lucky he's cute.

Sounds about right for kitty playfulness to me.

He's been a tad more subdued today. I think that he realizes that he hurt me. Although, give him another day or two, and he will be ready to leave some paw-shaped bruises on me again.

@RubyHawk He pounced on my arm last night at about 3 a.m. or so. He's back to his usual form.

I'd never try that with a cat but I've done that with my dogs, it usually gets me in trouble too but so far none have scratched my eyelid. I hope you're ok.

The doctor checked things thoroughly, and it looks okay. I'm on an antibiotic ointment for the eyelid and spot below the eye, though. I've done things like this with him before, but he was too wound up and my face too close. I need to remember to keep my face farther away from him when he is in hyper mode.

@rebelann He's the first cat I've had that I've had to be this conscious of. My late male cat would sleep with his head on my pillow at night and would never raise a claw to me. With this boy, I have to guard every body part.

Yeah, never let a kritter get too close to your face, I've had Roscoe lunge at me many times and always at my head but I keep my face far away from kritters when they're in play mode.

Ouch! that sounds painful just reading about it. Good thing you had your glasses on though.

@wilsongoddard How does it look in the mirror?

@snowy22315 The eye itself is looking okay. The eyelid and below the eye don't look so happy. I'm going to get things checked to be on the safe side. I definitely don't want to risk infection in that area. He has now managed to outdo our girl. Previously, she had held the title of "Problem Child." They're both sweet, but they do have their wild sides.

"Had" as in past tense. He knocked them off and connected to my eye. I don't know if he scratched the eye itself or just got the eyelid and spot right under the eye.

I am glad my cats have never done that.

This is a new one for me. Although, he did get the eye that his older sister had managed to go head first into when she was younger.

There are toys in every nook and cranny of this apartment. Some are sanctioned toys; some are things that he has pilfered from us to add to his stockpile.

i don't like cats because of such gestures, I was bitten by a cat too and i got 3 injections because of that. Ironically, I like persian cats.

Some of it was my fault. I should have had my face a bit farther back if I was going to do what I did. I'm just sort of used to my glasses being something of a shield when it comes to the fuzzy kids and their fuzzier brained moments.
