I was in Maine the other day. It was a business trip. I was there to personally supervise the start of construction on my new Lab-Grown Lobster Plant. That's the routine boring part of this story.
The sad tragic part is that I took Delimber Clear-Cut Harvest with me. She's my Head Forester and Chief Executive Vice President In Charge Of Outdoor Affairs. She falsely claims that I never take her anywhere anymore, so I took her to Maine.
There's nothing sad or tragic about Delimber. Except for her bad behavior sometimes. And this was one of those times.
She asked me if I wanted to go Forest Bathing in Acadia National Park. It was way too cold for any sane person to bathe in the forest but if she wanted to, I'd be happy to watch, hand her a towel and help her warm-up afterward. So I said, "Sure. Let's go."
We went to Acadia and managed to find a forest with very little trouble. We walked into it and stumbled on a nice stream almost right away.
"This looks like a good spot," I said. She agreed and sat down on a big rock. I waited patiently for her to get undressed and get in the water.
When it became clear she wasn't going to, I said, "You've chickened out, huh? That's alright. Let's go back to the room and do some Hotel Bathing."
She said, "You idiot. Forest Bathing has nothing to do with bathing. And before you ask, I'm not getting naked, either. Because it has nothing to do with nudity. Unless you're in a clothing-optional area and want to do it in the nude."
She went on to explain that Forest Bathing is simply going into the woods and disconnecting from everything. Basically, it's just meditating in the middle of a bunch of trees.
I am turning the whole matter over to my lawyers and the jokester who named it is getting sued for False Advertising.

Forest Bathing: What It Is, And Why You Should Do It At Least Once
Forest bathing has proved to be beneficial in a multitude of ways, but what is it, exactly?

Been there and done that but didn't call it something stupid. I called it relaxing in the forest when I did it. (There was a large rock sticking up out of the stream that was perfect for sitting on and watching the world pass me by. *shrug*)

That sounds great. For people who don't mind getting bored out in the woods.

@DaddyEvil I'm envious. I wish I had that much tolerance for nothingness.

It's not exactly like that but don't worry about the details. The good news is that we can turn off the genes that cause your allergy. You will finally be able to enjoy lobster.

There is a lot of peace that can be found in forest bathing--I think the term comes from the Nordic countries if I am not mistaken--

@xander6464 I don't disagree--but it has a kind of aesthetic--

It probably does. I don't remember now. And there's nothing wrong with it, I just think that calling it bathing is misleading.

@xander6464 I know. I've always spent time in nature. Didn't need it to become a "thing"

@xander6464 Yes, you can call hiking. I’d advise everyone to go to the woods and forest bathe.

@Vree0937 What else would Forest Bathing be? Who would ever guess it's meditation?

@vandana7 All his posts are. But quite a few discuss folks we don't know much about or couldn't care less about. He needs to remember, America is not general knowledge. LOL. But then, he is forgiven because he is a blonde.

It is a good idea, but the English name does take on a strange connotation.

@xander6464 You mean to say it is trust issue? She considers you as lecherous 27 year old man or is attracted to you so she cannot trust herself with you.... sigh...anything can happen. It is still God's world.

@vandana7 She knows I'm lecherous and she doesn't see it as a problem. It's just that she isn't always in a cooperative mood.

I'm not sure what qualifies as too old. But since I'm going to be 30 in only 3 years, I know that everyone is younger than I am.

During summers spent in the Catskill Mountains of NY state my dad and a friend found a spot surrounded by the forest where the sun shone down directly, It was like a hot oven but my dad and his friend loved to sunbathe there.

Sometimes, being in a hot oven is nice. Sort of like a dry sauna.
