I went to Kaiser and picked up...the wrong prescription!

I went to Kaiser today and picked up what I thought would be simple pain pills for my back. When I got home, I noticed that the prescription in the bag was for something else entirely. Have you ever had this happen?

Not to me, but my next sister got the wrong meds way back when we were teens. I can't remember what it was that she was supposed to be taking but what she got was some kind of sedative. Also, I picked up my meds today but was shorted 160 of the one. Your post made me check the bag (I hadn't when I picked it up).

Did she keep the sadative? Sounds like fun if you're a teen.

@TheHorse No, I'm sure my mother took it back to the pharmacy. What's fun about falling asleep in your chair?

@BarBaraPrz It was actually "right" prescription, but not the one I expected to pick up today.

No. I always have my husband check before we leave the store. Especially if we order from the drive thru. Walgreens may not be that far, but it wouldn't do to come home with the wrong script.

I was surprised. Usually the assistant and I check. Today we got into random conversation and did not.

No. We get our meds at the doctor's office. Their pharmacy is in Joplin so they ship our pills to the office where the ladies check them before they give them to us.

No but they usually read it and ask if that is the right one.

I had a pharmacist copy dosing instructions wrong and if we had not read, my first hubby would have taken three times the proper dose. I was familiar with the "usual" dose and this was so huge he waited until he cleared it up and got the correct strength.

I haven't had that happen, but I'm always double checking prescriptions. I've heard too many stories about mix-ups that have led to really bad outcomes.

NO, my pharmacist is very careful before giving medications.

I hope that sort of thing doesn't happen very often. It sounds dangerous.

It has happened to me a few times when I went to an independent pharmacy a long time ago.

I've never had that happen. What will the pharmacy do about it? Usually there are no "returns".
