Vince's makeshift studio

My husband is a keen photographer and we take photos at horse endurance rides in Western Australia. The season has finished for the summer so Vince has offered to take portraits of any couples in the lifestyle village where we live. We thought some might like a portrait to give to their children at Christmas perhaps. We’re not charging for these although we sell our endurance ride photos.
We concocted a ‘studio’ of sorts in the garage. As you can see from the photo, there is plenty of room and it worked quite well. We ran a wire rope across the ceiling and draped a black cloth from this as the backdrop. Then it was just a matter of setting up the lights and he was ready to go.

Looking good but you might want to set up an artificial tree or potted plant on a stand to add some interest to the photos. That black dropcloth is a bit stark.

We do quite well for the sale of the endurance ride photos. We don't take photos of many other things.

That looks professional actually, and I bet you will get plenty of takers.

@JudyEv This is a good time of the year to have it set up, people can include photos in their Christmas cards.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to use the term "takers". I was a bit worried I'd need to explain it.

That looks pretty good, especially for "make shift". Have you had many takers yet?

@JudyEv Oh, nice... I hope they don't all show up at once so you guys get overwhelmed. They'll have some nice photos to share with their families.

@DaddyEvil I think the problem will be with getting them to find time in their busy schedules to come at all. lol

@crazyhorseladycx It's hard to get workmen at the moment. Everyone says so. We would like some outdoor blinds but they're saying it will be February before they can be done.

@DocAndersen Thanks. Within the village people are really generous. One brings back day-old leftover bread from her charity; others deliver it is you can't get to the house to pick it up; people will walk dogs for you; water plants when you're away so it all works out.

We already charge for photos from the horse endurance rides and there really aren't any expenses with these. It's just a service for the village where we live now. It will come back in goodwill.
