Self-respect

So people tend to get misconceptions on self respect as an attribute in a person.
Some see it as pride, being egotistic, magisterial, grandiose and so on.
They don't get to see its positive side and the values which it attracts due to certain assumptions and believes.
To have self- respect doesn't mean you are weak. It doesn't make you a loser, rather it brings you a sense of serenity, the ability to control yourself from certain situations, more like minding your business and going about your life.
I have met people with such perceptions mostly about me, but I usually base my thoughts on them " judging a book by its cover without reading its pages or getting familiar with it" and so misconceptions come in.
Have you been in such situations and what was your approach to those misconceptions?

There is nothing better than walking in another persons shoes, before you may judge.

We should not only respect ourselves, but others as well.

Take what people think with a grain of salt. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, including me.
