Is it time for me to leave MyLot?

As many of you know, I have had some difficulties on the internet recently.
My Facebook page was hacked, and I no longer have access to it.
Several thousands of dollars were recently stolen from me, perhaps in part because of information I have provided on MyLot and other websites.
I no longer feel safe on the internet.
I want to thank those who have become my friends here over the years. I have enjoyed our conversations, and I am especially thankful to @vandana7 and her friend @DJ, for generating and supporting supporting my YouTube videos.
The internet feels like an unsafe place, and I do not want to lose the monies I've saved over the years for my retirement.
Again, thanks to those who have been my friends over the past five years or so. Many of you have my contact information.

@LadyDuck I did not tell anyone in the real world. I don't discuss my finances with others. There is one shady lady who lives here. But I have no evidence that it was her. She drives a fancy car but hangs out with ruffians. I spoke to the Sheriff this morning, and that made me feel better. They will do a thorough investigation. Sadly, he told me that mail theft is common here, even though it's a Federal offense. "They never pursue that," he said. A lawyer friend told me of some young woman who stole $400,000 from a gas station where they worked (her client owned the gas station). They were never prosecuted (though they lost their boats and fancy cars) because the District Attorney was "too busy."

@TheHorse Yay for the sheriff. Grrrr for the lady at the bank. Taking care of these problems is her job. You do need to be careful online with information, but I almost felt like this was sort of an inside job.

@GardenGerty It may be. I will gather more information when I have the time. Perhaps tomorrow.

Thanks, Judy. I am in problem-solving mode this morning. I just called the local Sheriff. They were helpful and will take a report as soon as I gather more information. The lady at my bank in the fraud department was dismissive last night.

If you leave, who will ask us what we had for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

Oh no...is that what you teach kids? Quit when the going gets tough...
I have listed some steps ... in Anna's box in your other post. Please try those.
I am not sure anybody can trace information from websites like myLot. As to facebook, yes, you need to change the password and other information after the debacle you faced. Especially since your account has been hacked there multiple number of times.
Please issue stop payment instructions to your bank immediately. We will know the hacker.

I don't think MyLot had anything to do with your loss since you didn't give out any personal information. I have no other way to get in touch now that your Facebook account has been hacked. Are you really leaving MyLot? Are you on Noise.cash? Please don't go!

@LindaOHio I have still not understood whether Pony issued that check or whether somebody else issued that check to pony.

I am not on Noise cash. As of this morning, I'm still here. I woke up wanting to write a post, as is typical. You may be right. MyLot is the least of my worries. I will contact the Sheriff this morning and see what my options are.

@TheHorse Did you also contact the company/person that issued you the check?

I think my mylot-password was picked up by some scam site at some point, I got one of those "We have your videos" - emails. I deleted it, changed the password here and then forgot the whole thing. Nothing more happened. The information we upload here isn't really very sensitive (nor sensible in some cases)
I hope you figure out how to stay safe online :-) and that the Sheriff is helpful.

It bothers me so much that you couldn’t contact anyone yesterday, and now you have to sweat through the weekend with no resolution.
Oh, while you’re at it, do call the postal inspectors. Stealing mail is a federal crime in addition to all the other issues.

I am unable to understand this...
The check is physical.
It has Pony's name on it... written or printed.
The guy who takes it deposits in his account. How?
Presuming the guy misrepresents himself to be Pony... and opens an account in Pony's name in another bank, aren't there identification documents required for opening account?
It is only possible if the check is not crossed... i.e., it is a bearer check.
Why would anybody want to post bearer check? Kinda, they are only issued for cashing immediately. Has Pony been receiving bearer checks so far or is this one of those stray incidents.

I may defy my own post and stick around for a bit. You have actually inspired me. I woke up wanting to do a post about a lovely interaction at the preschool. I also talked to a Sheriff this morning, and he said they WILL launch a thorough investigation. The woman at the Fraud division at my bank basically blew me off last night, making me feel even more helpless.
