Will you be cooking for Thanksgiving?

If you are cooking for Thanksgiving, when do you plan to start? The only thing I am cooking is the bread, and I will make that on Tuesday since it is supposed to be a cold day here. Making some nice warm bread will be good. I just hope it turns out well. Do you have a special Tgiving dish you like to make?

We're ordering in this year. Typically, though, I start a day or two in advance of the holiday itself so that I can get stuff like the homemade cranberry sauce done. Most years, I've done tofurky as the main; I've done different glazes for it, but I think that my favorite is maple glazed. I'm more for cooking than baking, so it isn't unusual for me to buy dessert rather than make it.

I've never had tofurkey. Are you veg? I bet it is good with a maple glaze.

@wilsongoddard There will always be those things I think. I have tried being veg but after about a month I start craving burgers in the worst way

@snowy22315 It is good, but it seems to have grown suspiciously smaller over the years since I first started buying it nearly two decades ago. There are a lot of jokes about it, but my view is that bad tofurky is the fault of the cook--not the product. Both my husband and I are vegetarian. I am glad that he is on the same page as me regarding food. Well, mostly on the same page; I still don't understand his love of arugula.

I definitely will make something all 4 of us will enjoy but I don't like turkey so it'll have to be either sardines or eggs, that's really all I have here right now.

We bought three smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving... We love smoked turkey so have already eaten one and have the next one thawing right now. The third is in the freezer, waiting it's turn.

@snowy22315 I used to do all these elaborate things to a turkey we'd get from a friend who raises them so they'd turn out golden brown and delicious every Thanksgiving and Christmas until he asked if we'd ever tasted smoked turkey. We told him we hadn't and he brought out some slices of a turkey he'd just finished smoking... OMG! It's delicious! All I have to do is heat it up in my oven, slice it and enjoy! YUMMMM!

Since it will only be my husband, our son, and his son, I won't cook such a huge meal. I plan to cook a spiral ham, sweet pototato casserole, broccoli casserole, deviled eggs, Red Lobster biscuits, and a dessert of some kind.

Your bread will be delicious, I’m certain. I’m doing all the major cooking since I’m hosting. My older son will make his special yam and sage dish here, hubs and the guys will fry the turkey, and my DIL will bake pies with the kids. Happy Thanksgiving!
