We had a few November Roses

Dallas, Texas
November 21, 2021 6:38pm CST
Although we had a few days of nearly freezing temperatures in Dallas it seems like another Indian Summer for us. So I was seeing lots of oak leaves falling all over the yard and practically covering the entire lawn, I looked at a rose we had seen many blooms in spring but I was not expecting one to appear this month.

I thought all the roses were gone until next summer. We have plenty of fallen leaves.

The Sycamore tree is turning a shade of brown and is slow to lose it's foilage. The Pinoak tree has dropped about all of it's leaves by now. I have a lot of raking to do. I usually let them sit for a month or more before actually raking them and mulching the leaves in early spring. Plenty of leaves here to rake. Our next door neighbor was raking leaves from those terrible Hackberry trees that align the fence.

@lookatdesktop more leaves are falling every day. The will soon be gone, I know the people who are blowing leaves will be glad. The parking lot looks so neat and clean when they finish but soon it’s full of leaves again. I’ve never seen what they do with the leaves.

Indian summers are very nice to have, I always enjoyed them to have some more warmth before winter comes,

Texas has always been up and down, day by day. But lately, these past several years, it seems we have longer summers and shorter winters. Maybe it's just my own perception, but it seems like global climate chanage is doing a number on Texas weather.

I love pink roses. I have actually a few that grow every so often in our back yard. But they are so tiny but yet so brilliant.

@lookatdesktop If the roses are small, it's either you have a Pitimini or a Vietnam Rose. Here's a pitimini.

Well, even hard core punk rockers have a soft spot for roses.

I hope the freeze didn't hurt them that much.

Even though we've had a little bit of s**w twice, it's still been mild so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have considered trying to grow something that will last through the cold snap, that usually occurs sometime in early late December through February, but I don't know what to plant. Maybe I will just try starting some indoor plants and have fun with them. So far I only managed to start growing another lemon from seed. It is so tiny, sitting on a pedestal at the south side door window to the kitchen that it looks like it might take a year just to get a few feet.

At times, some surprises are there for us! I do not think that you get snow in Dallas? But what are the lows that you have there?
