I was just wondering if anyone else here crochets. I love to crochet. I've known how to crochet since I was about 5. I've made a bunch of afghans & other things over the years. What have you made?

I can crochet but only basic stitches like single and double crochet. I`ve never really made anything. I would love to be able to make an afghan. can you explain how I could make a simple one for starters? thanks. I love crocheted afghans.

Well, you can actually make an afghan out of just those stitches. I have at least 3 afghans that are nothing but double crochet. I'm not very good at explaining how to make things. I'm better at showing. You can go to a search engine like ChaCha.com & search for simple beginner patterns though.

The best way to make it not look plain is to either use varigated color yarn (so that you don't have to keep switching colors, but there are still a variation of color in the afghan). Or you can pick a few colors & keep switching & then put a matching border. :) Hope this helps.

I am a crocheter too. I have not ventured from afghans and scarves, yet. I am currently looking for a triangular pattern. I have a "tube" crocheted, and would love to add triangles for the front part that would cover my boobs. :-)

Good luck on finding a pattern. :) May I suggest going to ChaCha.com & doing a search for patterns? That would be a great way to find them. :)

I wanna make an afghan!! Umm, I mean, no I can't crochet... YET! I want to learn to do this. When I was little my mother used to crochet everyday. I loved watching her and always wanted to learn. I have asked her several times in the last couple years to teach me, but it's always "I don't have the time". I picked up a couple of the books to try and teach myself, but I am finding it impossible to look at the little pictures and then try and do it. I am better at learning by doing. Hopefully some day soon I will be able to find a way to learn. I would love to do this and make things for the kids and some day grandkids, like my grandmothers both used to do.
