Grateful people

We all have heard countless stories of ingratitude. The world is full of people who seem to have very short memories and who, once blessed with favors, privileges and good deeds, forget their benefactors.
Worse still, one could fill volumes with accounts of those who went so far as to turn against the very persons who favored them. This kind of ingratitude has been a constant source of amazement to me.
I believe that one reason for ingratitude is a form of insecurity. There is fear to give credit where credit is due will somehow take something away from them. This possibility scares me.

I have never thought that lack of gratitude is based on insecurity. I have read many stories of persons who worked in many forms of entertainment type jobs claiming that when a teacher trains a student for work, the student tells the boss of the company that his or her teacher was mean to him or her when grooming them to succeed them as a sports star or artist.

@Junbals That is what many former entertainers have gone on record as saying that show business is a cutthroat business as well as dog eat dog.
