Woke up early to wash the covers, before I embark on a six am drive to the condo to fetch my daughter. Time is of the essence for her because she needs to finish her research on the 31st of December. That's when the residency ends. So I was at the condo driveway by 7 am. Texted my daughter, no answer, Called her number, one ring and then dead. Texted my elder daughter that I was out of load, so she'd call her sister and tell I was already downstairs. My elder daughter loaded up my cell, and then later called to tell that her sister is still in surgery, and that I should wait at a food chain where I could also eat my breakfast. A nurse at the OR cared to answer my daughter's phone. So, I went to a drive-thru, bought a cheeseburger, and ate my yummy sandwich at the parking lot. Then I dozed off to slumber. Can't remember how long my nap was but when my daughter was done with her stat surgery, she asked for a super meal. It was a hectic night with surgeries one after the other that she has not eaten anything since the afternoon yesterday. Then I went to the hospital to fetch her, to the condo unit for her laundry, to Starbucks for the much-needed coffee, because she has another surgery, and back to the hospital. I looked at the clock when I got home. It was already eleven o'clock.

After a quick lunch, my elder daughter and I went to the grocer for fruits and supply for the week. A real hectic Saturday. Just watched a beautiful Christmas movie and I feel rested. Tomorrow morning, will go to the hospital again. Definitely, she'd be off duty.

@Happy2BeMe Yup. Christmas movies fill the heart. But I love best the stories that truly pan our attention to the Little Babe in the manger - like Angela's Christmas. Shows that Christmas is really a Mass for Christ.

That is a surgeon's life I believe. My daughter is in the medical college and she too aims to be a surgeon. Her life will be like that of your daughter, we are sure.

Give her all the support she needs. I still do the laundry - scrubs, socks, and all, buy the essentials, including grocery. Doctors barely have time to comb their hair and surgeons wear caps all the time. They need us for their nourishment and well-being. What can we do, we are the parents!
