Do people have to have religious beliefs?

I have not joined any religion. Whenever I have insomnia, I will meditate on Amitabha Buddha, which can make my heart free from distractions. I have read a little introduction about Buddhism before. I think if I have to choose religion, I will choose Buddhism.

You don't really have to. Do whatever you're comfortable with.

Most Chinese adhere to Buddhism, allthough Christianity has penetrated its borders. I grew up with catholicism which I am quite familiar with. I am too old to learn new religious beliefs.

Yes, China has a population of 1.4 billion, of which 300 million have religious beliefs. Most of them believe in Buddhism and Taoism, and a few believe in Catholicism and Christianity.
