Receiving Unwanted Promotional Sms.

I suddenly started getting this promotional sms and they are very annoying. I was wondering why this started because I have my DND(do not disturb) service activated by my service provider. So it wasn't the service provider then how come these unwanted sms started to come. My husband then told me that this happens when you give your phone numbers in malls or other shopping centers. They sell the public database to third party promoters and those promoters send these sms, these aren't sent by mobile service providers. I will avoid giving my phone number from now on. Do you get these promotional sms? Image Credit:- Google.

I keep getting them and they can be really annoying. I have my phone available to many stores as I have a membership card with them to avail offers.

That must be really annoying and because of those we often miss on important messages.

@LotusEyes That's true. I have to filter important messages and emails from the pile of junk and spams. That's annoying and a complete waste of time

My daughter gives my phone number to sites online because she won't let me activate a phone for her. I've just been blocking the numbers when they show up in my messaging if the number isn't already in my phone's directory. And you're right, they're very annoying.

@LotusEyes She doesn't want anyone to be able to call her. I can't call her, either. I can send her an email, though. She doesn't leave home unless I'm with her.

@DaddyEvil You don't have to worry than because you are there with her. But there should be a phone for emergency, what say?

That must be very difficult for you because of all those messages, why don't your daughter get a number for herself? How do you call her when she is somewhere.

I have a basic flip phone, not a smartphone.
