Last night, I was thinking of song lyrics I had misheard in the past. I am sure it has happened more recently than this, but there a couple that stick out in my mind, Donovan's song Mellow Yellow, I thought he was signing Madame Yenow. That is how I always sung it in my mind. Also, Cher had a song, don't remember the name, just like a child without a home, I always thought it was child without a horn . I know there are lots of songs where I misheard the lyrics. Can you think of any, you have done this with?

Yes, in the case of Mellow Yellow, Madame Yenow, I think Madame Yenow makes more sense in the context of the song.

@snowy22315 I think to remember that the phrase "Love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away" I understood "a woman just a dance away" or something like that.

@LadyDuck Well, I guess that was just like omitting a word or two or something.

Sometimes there are lyrics you don't understand so you kind if make up something similar.

You mention it to somebody and they look at you like you are crazy and tell you what the correct lyric is.. or sometimes you hear someone else do the song...and you think...OH OK that is what it is!

I am sure it is easy to do especially if you are a non native speaker.

It is easy to do..if they don't make sense, you probably have them wrong, but some make more sense than the actual lyrics...Mellow Yellow case in point..
