How Long Have MCU-Fans known about Hawkeye's Hearing Problem?

It came up (not really a plot-point, but more like 'a heavy influence on the story' ... like Indiana Jones' fear of snakes) that Clint Barton (Hawkeye) is extremely hard-of-hearing.
