A mouse by any other name....

Yes, I know mice are common in the country and yes, I know they like to get in out of the cold.
But they have other places to warm up. My house is not one of them.
The other night I turned on the bathroom light and a tiny brown mouse jumped, I jumped, and I'm not sure who was the most scared, him or me.
My husband set a couple of mouse traps and I cautiously watched everywhere for that little critter.
The next morning as I walked into the living room in the early morning light, I saw WHAT I THOUGHT was a piece of Christmas tree on the carpet.
I started to pick it up and it was soft and squishy.
I thought I would vomit right then. I can't tell you how repulsive that was. Of course it was the dead mouse that somehow had crawled away from the trap and died right there.
I still get nauseous just thinking about it.
I don't blame mice for wanting to be warm. I like being warm. But I can't abide a mouse in the house. And when it comes to who gets to be warm in my house, I win.
Well, until another critter gets in.
But, I tell you what, bud. I ain't picking up anything I don't identify first.

I am glad that I have never seen a mouse inside our house. I have seen one outside years ago, surely the garden snakes took care of it. After I touched a toad thinking it was a brown sock, I never touch anything before checking what it is.

We live in an area that gets mice in the house in the winter too. I hate it! I can't even stand seeing one in a trap. When we had the dogs, they stayed in the basement for the most part (I think).

Yeah, I hate having mice in the house. I don't even think it would help to keep our cat Gracie inside.

So glad I'm not the only one! My sister used to have white mice as pets. I've often wondered which one of us was adopted.

@1creekgirl Yep! I would wonder the same thing. My boys used to want pet mice and I said no way!

He's gone along with a couple of his other buddies, but I expect there will be more.

I would be most unhappy to see mouse in this house, but once I think I heard one in the vents. He never made it in here though fortunately.

Mice are cute creatures actually. It's the rats that are scary.
Once, I checked on my old house in the valley. A neighbor came and we had a chat in the garage. All of a sudden, a tiny mouse peeked on the door as if checking who has come to disturb his peace. I said hello and it rushed back inside the house. Ha ha.

I can understand. Poor mouse. We used to have rats get in our house from time to time. I hope you can keep the mice out.

This time of year we just keep setting traps. I hate to kill them, but they'll just come back in if I don't.
