Since it’s a little cold here I’m doubling up on covers! I’m doing a countdown of original versions of songs Jimmy Buffett covered for NJ Chic, and here I’m looking at my favorite covers of Bob Dylan songs. This won’t be popular, given that there’s no “All Along the Watchtower.” So sue me. Here’s the first song.
#10: Positively 4th Street - Johnny Rivers
Let’s face it, Johnny Rivers sounds like he’s trying to impersonate Dylan in places during this version of one of Dylan’s best-known hits.
Given that Johnny Rivers’ career was pretty much made from covering songs, you might be surprised to discover that he does write songs. Not here, though. It’s a good take on one of Dylan’s “gee, how’d he come up with that title” (the title is nowhere in the song lyrics) songs.

Before I go to Vegas, I have a totally nonrelated question: How do you feel about Peter, Paul And Mary and The Times They Are A Changin'?

I’ll say this: puff your magic dragon, but don’t bet on him. But you know how I feel about headless Thompson gunners, don’t you…..

Don't know this one; but JR is definitely imitating Bob Dylan.
