I posted a picture of Justine in my "Maybe I'm back" discussion. Let me tell you how we got the little... darling.
My wife was in a FB group when another member posted that he found a kitten at his job. He explained that he was trying to find someone in the area who could give her a good home. He found her at his job, an HVAC shop, that had 2 large highways right nearby. He had big dogs at home. The area he lived in had a high kill shelter.
My wife asked where he was located at. It turned out he lives in Marble Falls. Now... Marble Falls is about an hour away from Austin, where we live. So, the wife asked if I would drive out there and get the baby. All she knew was that the kitten was a calico and pretty young.
I thought about it, I really did, I mean, I had just this year gotten the cat numbers below double digits, did I really want 9 cats - again? Then I thought about another cat I already had and knew that she probably wouldn't be with us too much longer. If she had been tame, I would've taken her to the vet months ago, but she wasn't.
So, after I dropped the wife at the house, grabbed a carrier, put the address in my phone and took off.
The fellow had sent me to the insurance office next to his shop, probably because of the safer parking lot - fewer screws and stuff.
Now, naming cats, especially when at one point you had 30, and you don't like to repeat names, has become a bit of a chore.
I had tried to make some version of Marble or Falls into a good name. I couldn't come up with one. So, I decided to name her after the fellow who rescued her, Justin. I decided on Justine.
That was in early July. In mid-July I discovered the sick cat had passed away, so I only had 9 cats for about 10 days.
I had taken Teeny to get a snap test the next day - she passed. Then I could start introducing her to the rest of the cats. It went about as I expected, Boris LOVES her, Heidi tolerates her, Opal and Onyx do their best to ignore her and hiss or slap at her if she gets too close, Sparky kind of backs away because she's rather food aggressive and I don't think Elizabeth (the sister of the one that passed away) has had anything to do with her.

What a gorgeous baby and a sweet story! Thank you both for saving this beautiful kitty.
Your story sounds like the story of my life. I can't tell you how many times I've been adopted. lol
We love our cats.

She has fit in quite well. And smart she's really smart! While other cats look at me or at the door when they want through it, she looks at me, then at the door knob! Well, lever actually. I suspect when she gets a bit bigger and heavier she'll be opening those doors!

Not really my kind of name, the name kind of... well... creates a kind of sense and Mable says "old" to me. I kind of think my problem with Opal is partly that it is also kind of an older sort of name. My Opal sure is an old cat in a young cat body...

Yeah, I know about that, and it is why I once had over 20 cats. But I was 10 years younger, actually a bit more like 15 years. I'm having enough trouble with 8 now. But Teeny has been a good playmate for Boris, even though we do sometimes have to remind him how much bigger he is from her.
