Hot nation - strange clothing

I sweat so I guess my kidneys are not overworked. My skin shares the job with it, they are like good pals..for now.
My city tends to be hot almost throughout the year. Not as sticky as coastal cities but still, we sweat. Temperature is rising with tall structures all around.
I find it strange that people are still fine with formal suits and thick kanjeevarams (silk sarees that are woven in Kanchipuram).
I find it strange that people are willing to wear art silk clothes simply because there is some shining motif, for which they pay a price.
I find it strange that people are willing to wear make up that makes them sweat and it kinda shines on their cheeks.
Don't get me wrong. Each and every one has a right to wear what he or she likes, and put on loads of that make up.
But I doubt if western make up stuff is right for our city. Simple talc should do.
I end up with simple cottons loose and long - partly because breathable version is hard to find and prints atrocious. Not because I cannot afford those silks. More so because I give preference to my comfort over others pleasure of looking at me being well clad.To that extent, you could say I am selfish.
I also feel that a person has to suffer with inferiority complex if she feels compelled to conform to something that makes her uncomfortable. May be I suffer with superiority complex.
So here is me with a couple of my friends at the temple. You can see me in black beard (mask lowered to exhibit my charming face filled with age spots) LOL.
Do you think we Indians need to get real about somethings at least? After all, it is more than 70 years since we got our independence and we are still wearing clothes like the Brits did or do.

You look great, Vanny. And it is always nice to be ourselves and wear whatever keeps us comfortable. Hot weather calls for some great hats too.

@ihasaquestion It was around 30C that day so I would definitely not wear anything like that even if I was to interview Prince Charles.

@vandana7 Ha ha.-Disgustingly hot. It must have got to do with the climate change.

I confess that I love those silk sarees and I suffered in the past during formal parties wearing elegant dresses and very high heels when I would have loved to throw them and walk barefoot. There are times that I respect the rules, but when I am at home I dress comfortable.

I think you should be comfortable. Many countries have put aside traditional clothing for clothing of comfort. That's a wonderful picture!

I find the sarees to be attractive and representative of a culture of your country and race. Silk is a very good material which is always a choice for formal traditional dresses or suits. It is a reckon cloth material for all seasons. For us, we will have the traditional cheongsams for the ladies which we will wear on formal occasions.

Well, I do prefer the Western shirt/Pant and Tshirts and jackets over Kurtas and Pyjamas. However, it is due to personal preference due to a strange reason.
The reason is that Kurtas and Pyjamas make me feel very lazy but I need to feel active when outdoors.
Plus some of the Kurtas I had over the years wore out fast and well I am now kind of habituated to shirts and T shirts.
And now i prefer soft cotton shirts and T shirts. Earlier I had a good collection of Polycotton shirts which I preferred as they needed very little press.
Yet now I am more choosy.
How is the weather in Hyderabad these days? Is it 30 C plus or below during the day time?

The kings and queens of our world wore those heavy brocade stuff because they had nothing to do. LOL. They did not even carry handbags. And their homes were well ventilated. Servants were constantly using fan by their side. How can garments of that era be right now?
