Are there certain words or names you just can't remember?

And I'm not necessarily talking about senior moments here. There's a street near my house. I often do business there. My friend Ko has moved her Thai restaurant there now. I got new tires for one of my trucks there. When I describe that street to friends, I say "the mostly Mexican street that begins with 'm'." They immediately get it.
As I type, I can't remember the name of the street. But I can remember the name "Milpas," the mostly Mexican street from Santa Barbara where I went to graduate school more than 30 years ago.
Another tough one for me is Eva Cassidy, the wonderful singer who died too young of cancer. Twenty years ago, when I could not use "old age" as an excuse for forgetting things, both my music partner and I could never remember her name, though we both worshiped her singing.. It just happened to pop into my mind as I was typing. Maybe I'll attach a link to her version of a Sting song. Apparently he wept when he heard it.
I also have words that I always found difficult to spell. For years, even when I was in graduate school, I struggled to spell "restaurant." There are other words that still bug me (we can all be forgiven for having to look up "hemorrhoids"), but I cant think of them right now. I have no trouble with things like "there," "they're" and "their."
Do you have certain words or names that sometimes befuddle you? A couple of times (maybe four) over the past 20 years, I have even said, "You know...the handsome guy who played in Dances with Wolves and a bunch of other movies." Yes, I can remember his name right now.

There are blank moments. Sometimes, I get mentally blocked and I cannot remember the phrase or word that I am supposed to say.

It seldom happen to me though if it does it will take time for me to remember. Just right now, I am trying to think of my student's name back in 2012.

@TheHorse good way to remember the names. Do you write it on paper now or just mentally remembering it ?

I'm not good at remembering names, either of people or streets. It can really be annoying.... (When I'm at work, I usually just call people ma'am or sir, even if I've known the person for years and consider them fairly close friends. *shrug*)

@DaddyEvil I would find it odd if someone who knew me called me "sir." "Boss" is the one term that really bothers me, though.

@TheHorse What is the difference...forget the difference...I think this would sound really great in your voice. After you lose some control, you won't be able to sing such things, even if you want to. If I were you, I would record as many as possible even if it was for private listening.

@FourWalls I can't believe I only really became familiar with this classic tune a few years ago. After I'd spent decades watching children laughing in the sun.

I was making out a card with gift for our mail carrier for Christmas and every year I can't remember her name. She...wait, it just popped into my head. Now if I can remember it long enough to write in on her card.

I have forgotten people's names and for the life of me at the time I need the name I cannot think of it. Also normal spelling words I need Grammarly to help me spell them. I just listened to a little bit of the song. She had a very nice voice but I do not know the song.

Yup. I feel your pain. As we age my husband and I have to work together to remember certain things. Hemorrhoids is definitely one word to look up. That and diarrhea.

Funny, I was just visiting with someone I am training to do one of my jobs, and we had to work a while to figure out where we knew each other from--different job, different town--and I was having her refresh me on names of clients I could remember but not remember their names. Peninsula is a word I have trouble with and then there are some words that my hands always type wrong, even though my brain can spell them right.

I can't remember the names of the streets at either end of my block. How pathetic is that?

Yes, yes and yes. Although I am pretty good with remembering actor's and singers names. I just played a trivia game like Trivial Pursuit with my nephews over Tgiving. I won...so my memory is mostly intact.

I can't remember one of my main College professors. The only way I will remember is to go out to the shed where I keep all my school yearbooks and look him up. It bothers me because he was someone I admired and never thought I would forget his name.
