I have had lots of friendship requests lately. / myLot

I don´t undersand technology and so I don´t understand Facebook either. Lately I have had lots of friendship requests from people I don´t know at all. And I wonder how do they know my name and what do they expect from me. I have denied friendship requests from some people I do know but have not heard of them from decades. I think that if they did not bother to discover whether I was dead or alive during years, I certainly am not their friend. Are they "friendship in FB" collectors? Can anyone explain to me that? I only use FB to see pictures of my friends grandchildren. I´m so outdated that I prefer to use the phone to talk with people than to message them.

Some people are friend collectors. I would be extremely cautious about accepting a friend request.

I think majority of Facebook users take pride in having a huge Facebook friends list which I think is totally understandable but not worth it. I mean I have 5k friends who are not helping me in anyway . So what's the use ?
