I've been doing my shopping online now for a while (kinda love it) but of course, with online shopping, things have to be shipped and shipped items sometimes need protective packaging.
I was quite fascinated by a box I received recently - not your average corrugated cardboard. No, it was structured like a honeycomb!
It was amazingly strong! It was just paper really.
They say its stronger than regular cardboard, and of course, considerably lighter and cheaper than using wood.
Why honeycomb?
The Honeycomb Conjecture states that a regular hexagonal grid or honeycomb is the best way to divide a surface into regions of equal area with the least total perimeter. Light, but very sturdy.
Where did they get the idea?
Well, of course, the honeycomb LOL
Smart bees? Do they have their patent registered?

I actually did my own tests - just for fun - seeing how much pressure I could apply before they squashed down - I’m such a child!
This makes me think of egg shells - everyone knows how fragile they are but amazingly, not as easy to break if you push directly over the ‘poles’

That is unusual. I can't say I've ever seen that kind of cardboard before.
I adore bees and they are obviously every bit as smart as I thought they were!
