How Much Are You Willing to Spend?

At a time when prices are skyrocketing out of control, shipping slow, shelves empty again, it's hard to find what you need or want. Add in Christmas and it makes it even harder to shop with a budget in mind.
I've been doing well this month. Until yesterday. I made a delivery order on Wednesday for delivery on Thursday morning. I got a notice that the one item I needed, no it wasn't bananas, they were out of stock. I decided to go to another store for the item. They were out. My second try proved fruitless also. My third try also proved hopeless. I asked the store manager who was also clerking, and he said it could be a production thing.
Breakfast every morning consists of eggs, uncured turkey bacon, maybe a potato. Not as often as before, and a banana. Guess what was out of stock? Turkey bacon. I finished my last slice of turkey bacon this morning.
I went online to Amazon to see if they had uncured turkey bacon. They do. The cost was high and shipping was almost as high. I've never paid that kind of money for turkey bacon before and hopefully won't again. Yes, I pushed the button and bought turkey bacon on Amazon. I found a product that was Whole30 and Paleo compatible. So, at least my diet won't suffer. I only need to wait until December 20 for delivery. Today is the eleventh. I guess I'll be eating more potatoes and bananas for breakfast until the order arrives.
What will you pay extra for or will you wait? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. Another from the Botanical Gardens Garden of Light event.

As I've told you many times before Whole30 isn't a weight loss diet. It wasn't designed or created for weight loss. It is an elimination diet for food intolerances.
You need to vary your meals. Your body is too used to what you eat and do every day and it has learned to just burn off what it must. Eat a different fruit instead of a banana. Have rice or quinoa instead of a potato. Eat a turkey burger patty instead of having eggs. You have been stuck in a rigid food routine and that has been reflected in the numbers over the past year. You need to change things up.

I'm doing Paleo now, which is similar to Whole30. I've tried changing it up. I end up eating more because I'm hungrier. That breakfast lasts me until the middle of the afternoon when I have my second and last meal of the day. Unless I didn't have eggs for breakfast and ate all day long. I hate those days. So, yes, I stick to my eggs. I don't eat many potatoes now, maybe once or twice a week and not often with breakfast. I have lots of fruit in my fridge, but it's a banana for breakfast unless I happen to be out of those. Heaven help me if they ever go out of stock on bananas.

@NJChicaa Chicken is out of the question. I have ground turkey in the freezer I plan to have for breakfast. It was okay the one time I tried it. The first time I tried it, I wasn't a fan. Too dry. I need to spice it up and somehow make it moist. I have tuna but never thought about it for breakfast. Eggs are loaded with protein and are good for you.

@just4him Your body is too used to your food and exercise routine. You need to change things. Use a different protein source for breakfast--turkey burgers, beef burgers, tuna/chicken salad, etc. Skip the potatoes and bananas and have strawberries and cauliflower rice. Have a salad with grilled chicken or steak for dinner.

I have chenged a lot my diet since the pandemia began and I had to shop online. They brought me bad veggies and I ended up throwing them. So I am buying frozen veggies, the fruit they have a a reasonable price and accept that this has to be it. I am eating more chicken and almost no other kind of meat because it is VERY expensive.

@just4him I learned to buy online all my groceries when the pandemia started. My immune system will never be too good so I have to take care.

I might go with the logic that I'd pay more for turkey bacon since it's something I enjoy and works well on my diet. I probably would have spent that money on less healthy things like cookies, cake or ice cream.
Lately I've been paying over $4 for a fresh head of cauliflower. I love it roasted. There was a time that I never would have paid that much

@just4him I'm willing to spend the money for a fresh head now and then. Of course frozen is a lot cheaper but trying to eat healthy certainly does cost a lot

@Marilynda1225 Yes, it does. My turkey bacon arrived today, five days early, packed in dry ice. You know what I'll have tomorrow for breakfast.

I have lots of staples on hand. I have backed off of eggs right now because they are higher priced, although I have been given powdered eggs and liquid eggs by my sister and her friends. I use those to make a home made egg nog for hubby because I can make it less sweet. I have not been a fan of turkey bacon, but I love just plain roasted turkey.

I buy enough to last a while so I'm not buying too often. I just ran out and the shelves are bare.
Eggs are the same price here, which is good with how many I eat.

I hope so too. I was shopping yesterday and checked on the bacon. Still none in sight. I hope by the time I need it again, it will be in stock. I'm wondering if that's the reason why it will take a while before I get it in the mail. Still another five days.

@just4him Look for other turkey products you could substitute. Maybe you can find something at a decent price. Good luck

@wolfgirl569 If they didn't have so much sodium in them, it would be okay. Uncured goes with my diet, and even those have varying degrees of sodium in them.

My eyebrows shot into my hairline at that price. It's good to know you won't pay that. It's outrageous!
The problem is people need to eat and the stores are taking advantage of that fact.

I heard amazon takes foodstamps now, if that helps next time? (If they do). I personally wouldn't buy food online, but i will pay a few extra dollars for something once i finally find it if inreally want or need it.

I wondered if they did. I didn't see anything when I checked out saying they did.

Usually whatever it is I can wait for it. Unless it's something absolutely necessary like something needed for an urgent repair. As far as food goes, I'm very flexible on what I eat so I could probably just make do with something different.
