Do you ever have a no spend day?

Today is a no spend day for me. I could use some bananas and caffeine free beverages however, I am not going out just for that. I could also go to the trash dump, that begs the question does driving your car count as spending on a no spend day? I would think it would, even if you don't buy gas you are still using it. What do you think?

I do try to go as long as possible between shops - for a number of reasons- one of which is to avoid unnecessary wastage.

Yes, that can happen too. I do have money I could spend today, but I spent enough yesterday. Time to take a break.

@sulynsi I consider myself to be a gig worker really, although my income with these jobs does not match my Social Security income.

@snowy22315 interestingly, the technology developed to manage paying people for the ‘gig’ economy, might be a useful tool in making funds, just enough funds, to look after needs as they arise. It could be used as a tool to help people do just what you describe

@RebeccasFarm No, I can wait until tomorrow. No sense in ruining the no spend..Althought technically we spend everyday anyway by using electricity.

I am not sure I could do that. Even if I am not buying in physical stores I am buying online. Starting to wonder if I am a shopaholic...

@LadyDuck Where do you buy your shoes for instance? Do you get them all in the store?

@snowy22315 I only buy grocery on two different days and IF I need something, I do not even search online to see what there is interesting.

We have no spend weeks sometimes. And yes, in my opinion, driving your car counts as spending money.

I think it is kind of one of those gray areas. I could not do even a week of no spend. I would go nuts.

@DaddyEvil If I couldn't get out of here for a week I would be crawling the walls. The longest I have ever stayed home is maybe 3 days, to be honest, 2 is hard although I do that fairly routinely.

@Courtlynn Yeah, you like to go out to eat alot, you should get all those apps from the food chains you like because they have tons of freebies on them. Free sandwiches, fries, and all sorts of things. Why pay when you can get it for free? Most of them are great, although Sonics is very strange. However, that chain is probably not up there.

I do the bulk of my spending when my benefits hit at the beginning of the month. Then the rest of the month is jam-packed full of no-spend days unless I run out of something important.

There are days when I don't spend anything, but most days, there seems to be something I may need. It depends on the day.

I have to have a no spending Amazon days for right now because I am trying to wait until Jan 3 so I can get a 25 dollar gift card from Mypoints. It's driving me crazy.

Yeah, that is a while to wait. I gave up on Mypoints. They didn't credit me some points I was supposed to have earned. I hate when sites do that.

@snowy22315 I love days when I do not have to go out and spend money. I would say that even if you do not have to go get gas you are are using it when you drive your car no matter where you go.

I think if you count using the gas you already have as spending then eating the food you already have is also spending. Yes I do have no spend dayS because I don't go out everyday, I barely go out at all.

Yeah, I mean I already purchased the gas so really it shouldn't ruin the no spend, because you could really take it to an extreme. I mean what are you going to do sit in the dark and cold because you don't want to spend?? I don't think so..
