Even though technically gingerbread has existed since the time of the ancient Egyptians, Gingerbread in the shape of people did not formally exist until 16th century England. The association of the cookies with Christmas is due to both a special ocassion and the weather as ginger tends to be comforting to people.

Those are not popular here, they make the "Brünsli" in the north and the "Milanesini" here in the south.

That sounds really good. Around here you often see like a pumpkin cheesecake with a ginger snap crust.

@snowy22315 I just saw. The images are familiar. I've seen that in movies and cartoons. Always thought it's brown because of chocolate.
